Recently I took my family to see the movie Turbo. If you are not familiar, Turbo is a DreamWorks Animation geared towards children. I must confess however, I love these movies. Thankfully I have young kids that allow me to go see them without feeling awkward. I am not sure my wife would be too happy if I took her on a date to see Despicable Me 2! Speaking of which, did you see it yet? What about the new Monsters, Inc? Both were great… I mean, my kids loved them!
Turbo is about a snail that, through a turn of events, gets nitrous oxide into his bloodstream and becomes supercharged. This results in mind blowing speed and with this new power he sets out to chase his ultimate dream of racing in the Indianapolis 500.
On the way to the Indianapolis 500 there was a conversation that teaches a great lesson. The question came from another snail that was gripped with fear and doubt, and the answer came from Turbo.
“What happens if you wake up tomorrow and your powers are gone?”
“Well, then I better make the most of today”
I loved this response! The question I have for myself and you is how would you have responded?
I find that the tendency is to live in the “What Happens If” side of life. We allow the “what ifs” to keep us from pursuing our greatest dreams. We allow the “what ifs” to feed our minds with doubt resulting in a life of mental paralysis
